Tavan can scare mommy and daddy!!!

for the past couple of days Tavan has been more fussy than his usual happy self and then starting Monday around noon, he stopped eating (which was pretty unusual for him). Every time we tried to feed him, he would scream louder and harder and refuse to eat. worried that Tavan might have caught Rickys cold i kept a pretty close eye on him and When Ricky got home around 2:30 a.m. , Tavan still had not eaten and was no longer having any wet diapers, So ricky called up to the hospital to see what we should do and they said to bring him up because they did not want him to get dehydrated. so at 3 a.m. we packed Tavan up to the ER...and well.....apparently just walking through the doors changed his mind about eating and he ate...thank goodness they didn't charge us a visit see how they didn't even do anything but could think of what would cause him to do that because as far as the nurse could tell nothing was wrong with him.....once we got back home he went to sleep and woke up around 6 a.m. and ate again ...but after that he once again stopped eating and wetting himself and now he had started a fever...concerned about him not eating and crying all the time i called his pediatrician yesterday morning and got an appoint...turns out Tavan has an ear infection which is not common for newborns to have. He is under constant watch by mommy because the Doctor does not want him to get a fever above 100 again and wants him to eat no matter what....luckily Tavan is now on the antibiotic and back to eating again!yay!!! he also is no longer crying near as much as he was and is back to sleeping peacefully

Tavan is also starting to smile back at mommy...i have yet to capture it on camera but i love when he does it...it melts my heart!

Tavans first christmas!!

Tavan had his first Christmas! we spent the day with family after we opened all our gifts. Tavan got so many cute outfits to wear and daddy got mommy a necklace and watch. we all had a great christmas and were happy that we got to spend it with both families! here are some pictures

Tavan is one month!!

Its hard to believe that my baby is one month old already!! ricky and I enjoy having him here with us and can't believe how lucky we are. Tavan is a healthy and strong baby who is pretty easy to take care of but occasionally he has his days...or nights...Tavan got to spend his one month birthday with his grandpa and grandma varley (complete with balloons) :D It was a great visit from them and we enjoyed it very much. 3 weeks old!!!

Tavan is three weeks old today! here are two videos and a few pictures that were taken this morning... the one is sideways (sorry) but its a cute one of Tavan with the hiccups while the other one is of him snoring the other day.there is also pictures from his first bath...he didn't like it to much as you see but now he doesn't fight them so much...we think he enjoys the warm water because he doesn't cry when we are washing him and splashing it on him...its when we aren't that he gets fussy.

2 weeks old!!!

Tavan had his 2 week old appointment yesterday. He has gained weight and now weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz. The doctor was impressed because he said usually they like to have the babies back to their birth weight by now but Tavan had gained and never really lost any weight since birth. :D WE also got the proofs from the photographer that did his newborn pictures.....so cute!!! i love them! here is a few of my favorites!

One Week!!!!

Today Tavan is one week old! He had his first doctors appointment today complete with a circumcision....poor little guy :( He is doing well though. He only lost .3 oz (probably because his tummy was empty because of the procedure) and has grown an inch since birth! Doctor said that he is healthy and seems pretty happy. Tavan is a pretty easy going baby. He wakes up every 2 1/2-3 hours to eat then goes back to sleep shortly after. He doesn't cry much and loves to cuddle (which is a plus for me). My labor was pretty easy i think......I went in on Tuesday the 10th with contractions every 7 min apart at first then they got down to every 5 min...when i got to the hospital they hooked me up to the moniter and kept me there for what seemed like forever. I wasnt really progressing fast enough for them to keep me but they worried about sending me home because Rangely is a 45 min. drive from Vernal. After they released me my doctor ordered an amniocentesis ( removal of amniotic fluid) to see if Tavan's lungs were developed enough because he wanted to induce. The test came back that Tavans lungs were well enough developed and that i was ready to be induced the only problem was during that time the hospital had to give the room on reserve for me to someone who was actually in labor. We had a room available on the 12th so we went in and the Doctor broke my water at 8:30 which started labor for awhile but then it slowed again so they started pitocin. While i was first on the pitocin my nurse (that was in training....and training all by herself) couldn't figure out why my IV pump wasn't working properly so she was messing around with the hoses when she pulled the one out of the pump and the Pitocin came FLOWING...like rushing... into me..well needless to say....OUCH...my body had a pretty good, fast and painful reaction. Once she realized (well Ricky and my mom pointed it out to her) what was happening she stopped the pitocin and wouldn't start it until i got my epidural. Once i had my epidural i felt nothing other than numb. I couldn't move my left leg for awhile and had to have Ricky help me reposition every now and then. Once i had my epidural things began to pick up and around 5:30 they called the DR to let him know it was getting close and he better start making his way here and well by 5:40 they were calling him and telling him to "run". Dr Griffith made it in time and entered the room huffing and puffing and after 3 contractions and about 9 pushes our little bundle of joy arrived at 5: 53pm on November 12th!! Tavan came out, cried for like 5 seconds then went to sleep....and slept for quite awhile. apparently he had a long day :D after that we were moved to a postpartum room and stayed for about a day and half before we were released. Ricky and I are so lucky to have Tavan in our lives and love spending every minute we can with him.

Baby or not???

for all those of you that haven't already heard, yesterday bright and early (OK not so bright) around 1230 i started contracting and finally around 3 am decided to call the Hospital over in Vernal and by 4 am i was on my way. i arrived at 5 and they hooked me up to the moniters and watched me for hours it seemed. I ended up spending most of my day there with very little change from when i first arrived so they ended up doing a amniocentesis (removed fluid from the sac) and sent me home. depending on those results (which we find out around 11) TAVAN COULD BE BORN TODAY!!!! The DR. decided that if the results show that his lungs are developed (which there is a 90% chance they are) then i will go in and he will break my water and get this show on the road! Ricky and I are both way excited but I am also however pretty nervous...i guess its fear of the unknown and im not sure EXACTLY what to expect, but im doing fine and am ready to face my fear so my little one can come! so for now ....no baby..... but maybe by tonight...??????

it's a little late...but better late than never!

so i know its late but i figured i would still post it. Here is a picture of the Morgan family on Halloween, one of Ricky and I with Santa and one of our pumpkins. We didn't do much this year, but it was still more than we did last year. Ricky and I didnt dress up, but we made sure Tavan didn't miss out on the opportunity! For Halloween RIcky and I just hung out around the house and enjoyed each others company. We went to the Ward dinner and trunk or treat and got to see the kids costumes and pass out candy. We only had 4 trick or treaters that actually came to our house (before we left) maybe next year we will do better!

2 weeks!!!

so after a lot of discussion between Ricky and I and our doctor we have decided that we will be induced on the 19th of November. that means only two more weeks until our little guy is here!!!! we are excited but i am beginning to become pretty nervous. (not about becoming a parent but more the just how bad will it hurt and to find out my pain tolerance level) We decided that induction was something that we wanted to consider after we found out that the mine will only allow Ricky to take 2 days off for Tavans arrival. We were worried that whenever Tavan did come that i would be in the hospital those 2 days and when it came time to go home, Ricky would be at work and miss being home with a brand new baby. This is not something that we wanted to happen. so after looking at the calender with Ricky working Monday- Thursdays we decided that he could take Thursday and Monday off because the mine will not be open during Thanksgiving so that would allow Ricky to have from the 19th-29th home with Tavan and I ( he might have to work on or two of those days...but better than nothing). We were nervous about asking our Doctor about being induced but were relieved when he said that "everyone" was healthy enough and that it really would only be a couple days before my due date and that he was completely comfortable with doing it.. So ....unless Tavan has different plans for us.....he will be here for Thanksgiving!!!

Tavan has plenty of blankets to keep him warm during the winter months (im sure im missing some but i think i got the majority of his blankets.....there are 18 pictured here)
