Family Photos

We finally got our family photos back this weekend and i am excited to go get them printed.Dimitri did so well during his photo-shoot. Tavan wouldn't quiet cooperate the way we wanted him to, so no picture of just the two of them even though we tried countless times. Here are a few of my favorites. I posted them on Facebook but since some of you don't have a Facebook i figured i would post them here too. Enjoy!

Puppies!!!

Our Beagle Sophie had her puppies on May 25th. She is the mommy to 6 babies (5 boys and one girl). Ricky and I joke that she just wants to be a true Morgan and have lots of boys. She started her labor on the 24th and we were up all night with her. She had her first puppy at 12:54 and her last one at 5:15ish. It was a long night for all involved but we have enjoyed having them with us. We decided to name them according to their markings so we could keep them straight. some people have made fun of us for it, but it works for us and we know that when they sell the names will change, but for now we like them. Here they all are... arrow and spot. Arrow is #6 and his collar forms and arrow on top of his head. Spot was #1 and has a spot on top of his head. Lucky was number 4 his name is lucky because well....i liked the name.he has a white stripe across his bum. he is my favorite patches. #3 The largest self explanatory. HE has Ricky wrapped around his finger pearl and bolt. pearl has a white "collar" so we figured necklace...pearl necklace so pearl. she was #2. Bolt has a lightning bolt shaped collar.Bolt was #5 and the runt

my little Dimitri

Most of you are already aware of Dimitri's hospital stay but I figured i should blog about and answer most questions now, that way i can put it behind me and not have to keep explaining :) On Memorial day, we went out with Rickys family and had a picnic/barbecue of sorts and spent the majority of the day outside. On Tuesday and Wednesday Dimitri was super fussy and I just thought it was because we "over did it" on Monday. Wednesday night he started to feel warm and so i started monitoring his temp. He started at 99.8 but by the morning he was 101.8. I decided to take him to Dr. Cameron here in town (one of the very very very few doctors that i work with and trust) I Thought for sure that it was just an ear infection (Tavan had many, which led to tubes at eight months). Dr. Cameron couldn't find any signs of infection after blood work, urine tests, and chest xrays. She sent us home to watch his fever and if it spiked again, to bring him in so we could do a spinal tap. We went home around 1 pm and by 5pm his temp was 102.6. I called Dr. C and she said to bring him up to the E.R.. Before i left i decided to call his pediatrician (Dr.Kwak) to see what he thought and he said that Dimitri needed to be seen. We made an appointment with Dr. Pollary in the after hours at the Pediatricians office. Dr. Pollary ordered more tests including a spinal tap which all came back negative but that the cultures would take 48 hours to come back and in the mean time we needed to be on IV antibiotics in the off chance that it was meningitis. on a side note...seeing your 6 week old hog tied so they can do a spinal tap is the saddest thing i have EVER seen in my life. After a walk down the hall, we were admitted and trying to get an IV in. Dimitri is one tough cookie because 2 hours later....we still didn't have an I.V. placed. They tried but couldn't get one in any of his tiny veins. Finally they called Doctor and we decided to give him the antibiotic by shot for now. After totaling all needle pokes for the whole day Dimitri beat Tavan's record of nine with Sixteen. In the process of screaming in pain, Dimitri screamed his fever out. after that he had a very low fever and was back to his normal content little self, except when they woke him up with more pokes every few hours. Ricky went home that first night to be with Tavan (no one under 13 is allowed down the hall due to RSV season)and came back Friday afternoon. My mom picked us up on Saturday around 2pm when Dimitri was released after finishing his round of antibiotics. Since then we have got all the test results back which have all come back as negative. We still don't know what was ever wrong with him other than he had some sort of virus. This hospital stay was just as hard as Tavans.(here) The toughest part about this hospital stay was not doing it by myself for the most part, but the fact that we were in the exact same room as we were with Tavan when they didn't know what was wrong with him and why his body was "eating" itself to live. The first night after everyone had left the room, i laid down to sleep and was overwhelmed with emotions. i remembered sitting in the very room and hearing that if they didn't find out what was wrong with Tavan, that there might be a chance he might not make it. and not now not knowing what was wrong with Dimitri was horrible. I couldn't help but think that its my fault. 2 out of 2 of my children have had 2+ day hospital stays before they are 3 months old and both times i couldn't help them. I was so glad that Dimitri, while the fever was high, is okay and that it was nothing as serious as it could have been. that first night i was literally prepping myself to hear that Dimitri had some strange auto immune disorder or something serious like they thought Tavan had. I was very relieved to hear the little word "virus" and come home with both my boys! I am so glad that both times, the end result has been a lot less serious than it could have been. (Tavan - lactose intolerance Dimitri- Virus). I love both of my boys very very very much. They are the lights of life and Ricky and I are so blessed =) Since the stay, life has returned to normal. Dimitri is back to his pleasant little self and Tavan enjoys having us both back home. Ricky is back to work and we are getting excited to try and make some summer plans. Rickys work schedule keeps changing and making it a little difficult but hopefully we will at least get a couple trips in!
