Catch up

Remember when i said i was going to post about my trips? Well i meant to, i just never found the time. This summer has been crazy busy.Tavan was involved in wee-ball (tee-ball for 2 years old)as well as swim lessons which kept us pretty busy for a month or so. Ricky also played Softball and we enjoyed going and watching him play every week.Im so glad that we were involved in a lot of things this summer. In July we took a trip to Yellowstone. Our trip was so much fun. I surprised Rick when he got home from work and told him i had the weekend planned. After we played in Yellowstone we decided we wanted to spend some time with my grandparents in Twin. Ricky hadn't seen them in awhile and wanted to visit. The boys did awesome the whole trip. I love my little travelers so much. In August we took a trip back to Oregon. Ricky had to work so I loaded up the boys and away we went. My mom and I traveled down together so i was not by myself but not having Ricky with me on such a long trip was hard! We went to my grandmas house to do some yard work and then spend a few days on the Oregon coast. I love it there so much and miss it a little more everyday. We got to take a Jet boat ride up one of the rivers and Tavan loved it. I got pretty beat up on it but it was still fun. By the time we got home the boys, mainly Dimitri, were done in the car. A 16 1/2 hour drive is LONG! Ricky was so happy to have us home and hear Tavan tell him all about it.
The next weekend we decided to go camping. We both love going camping and hadn't had the opportunity to go. We packed up for our trip and headed to the Grand Mesa. I really like it up there and think that it is as close to Oregon as i'm going to get here in Colorado. We planned on doing some hiking up there and found the "Lost Lake" trail online that sounded like we could do it with the Kiddos. Tavan did amazing on the hike. He walked almost all of it but the last little bit. After our hike we had lunch and played at the trail head. My hiking companions

after the weekend adventure we took Dimitri to his 4 month checkup. Dr. Kwak is impressed with him. He weighs 14 1/2 lbs which puts him in the 30th percentile for weight and his head was in the 98th percentile with his height in the 67%. Overall...he is awesome and i think we are going to keep him =) Tavan adores his little brother so much. Im so excited to watch these two grow together.

Happy Birthday Jason!

This week was Jasons birthday and it felt strange not to have him around to celebrate it. So Tavan and I made some cupcakes and took a couple photos for him to see. Tavan's smiling face!

Family Photos

We finally got our family photos back this weekend and i am excited to go get them printed.Dimitri did so well during his photo-shoot. Tavan wouldn't quiet cooperate the way we wanted him to, so no picture of just the two of them even though we tried countless times. Here are a few of my favorites. I posted them on Facebook but since some of you don't have a Facebook i figured i would post them here too. Enjoy!

Puppies!!!

Our Beagle Sophie had her puppies on May 25th. She is the mommy to 6 babies (5 boys and one girl). Ricky and I joke that she just wants to be a true Morgan and have lots of boys. She started her labor on the 24th and we were up all night with her. She had her first puppy at 12:54 and her last one at 5:15ish. It was a long night for all involved but we have enjoyed having them with us. We decided to name them according to their markings so we could keep them straight. some people have made fun of us for it, but it works for us and we know that when they sell the names will change, but for now we like them. Here they all are... arrow and spot. Arrow is #6 and his collar forms and arrow on top of his head. Spot was #1 and has a spot on top of his head. Lucky was number 4 his name is lucky because well....i liked the name.he has a white stripe across his bum. he is my favorite patches. #3 The largest self explanatory. HE has Ricky wrapped around his finger pearl and bolt. pearl has a white "collar" so we figured necklace...pearl necklace so pearl. she was #2. Bolt has a lightning bolt shaped collar.Bolt was #5 and the runt

my little Dimitri

Most of you are already aware of Dimitri's hospital stay but I figured i should blog about and answer most questions now, that way i can put it behind me and not have to keep explaining :) On Memorial day, we went out with Rickys family and had a picnic/barbecue of sorts and spent the majority of the day outside. On Tuesday and Wednesday Dimitri was super fussy and I just thought it was because we "over did it" on Monday. Wednesday night he started to feel warm and so i started monitoring his temp. He started at 99.8 but by the morning he was 101.8. I decided to take him to Dr. Cameron here in town (one of the very very very few doctors that i work with and trust) I Thought for sure that it was just an ear infection (Tavan had many, which led to tubes at eight months). Dr. Cameron couldn't find any signs of infection after blood work, urine tests, and chest xrays. She sent us home to watch his fever and if it spiked again, to bring him in so we could do a spinal tap. We went home around 1 pm and by 5pm his temp was 102.6. I called Dr. C and she said to bring him up to the E.R.. Before i left i decided to call his pediatrician (Dr.Kwak) to see what he thought and he said that Dimitri needed to be seen. We made an appointment with Dr. Pollary in the after hours at the Pediatricians office. Dr. Pollary ordered more tests including a spinal tap which all came back negative but that the cultures would take 48 hours to come back and in the mean time we needed to be on IV antibiotics in the off chance that it was meningitis. on a side note...seeing your 6 week old hog tied so they can do a spinal tap is the saddest thing i have EVER seen in my life. After a walk down the hall, we were admitted and trying to get an IV in. Dimitri is one tough cookie because 2 hours later....we still didn't have an I.V. placed. They tried but couldn't get one in any of his tiny veins. Finally they called Doctor and we decided to give him the antibiotic by shot for now. After totaling all needle pokes for the whole day Dimitri beat Tavan's record of nine with Sixteen. In the process of screaming in pain, Dimitri screamed his fever out. after that he had a very low fever and was back to his normal content little self, except when they woke him up with more pokes every few hours. Ricky went home that first night to be with Tavan (no one under 13 is allowed down the hall due to RSV season)and came back Friday afternoon. My mom picked us up on Saturday around 2pm when Dimitri was released after finishing his round of antibiotics. Since then we have got all the test results back which have all come back as negative. We still don't know what was ever wrong with him other than he had some sort of virus. This hospital stay was just as hard as Tavans.(here) The toughest part about this hospital stay was not doing it by myself for the most part, but the fact that we were in the exact same room as we were with Tavan when they didn't know what was wrong with him and why his body was "eating" itself to live. The first night after everyone had left the room, i laid down to sleep and was overwhelmed with emotions. i remembered sitting in the very room and hearing that if they didn't find out what was wrong with Tavan, that there might be a chance he might not make it. and not now not knowing what was wrong with Dimitri was horrible. I couldn't help but think that its my fault. 2 out of 2 of my children have had 2+ day hospital stays before they are 3 months old and both times i couldn't help them. I was so glad that Dimitri, while the fever was high, is okay and that it was nothing as serious as it could have been. that first night i was literally prepping myself to hear that Dimitri had some strange auto immune disorder or something serious like they thought Tavan had. I was very relieved to hear the little word "virus" and come home with both my boys! I am so glad that both times, the end result has been a lot less serious than it could have been. (Tavan - lactose intolerance Dimitri- Virus). I love both of my boys very very very much. They are the lights of life and Ricky and I are so blessed =) Since the stay, life has returned to normal. Dimitri is back to his pleasant little self and Tavan enjoys having us both back home. Ricky is back to work and we are getting excited to try and make some summer plans. Rickys work schedule keeps changing and making it a little difficult but hopefully we will at least get a couple trips in!

3 weeks

I can't believe my baby is already 3 weeks old! Dimitri is such a good baby. Very easy and we enjoy having him in our family. He sleeps a lot still and eats every 3 hours during the day and every 4-5 hours at night. Tavan is still doing amazing with his brother. He is sure to tell everyone that Dimitri is his baby brother and how tiny and cute he is. He also likes to tell me that his brother is his best friend a lot. :) Makes me so happy. Dimitri had the snip snip last week and did awesome. Tavan screamed the whole time during his, Dimitri cried when expected to, otherwise he just chilled on the table. He is a trooper. At his 2 week check he was back to his birth weight and grew a 1/2 inch. Breastfeeding, once again, didnt work out. They had me on some pills to help the milk come in and once i finished taking them i stopped producing. So once again, we have a formula fed baby. Im ok with it though because at least for the first two weeks he got the good stuff. Not much else has happened around here lately but we are looking forward to Mothers day because Jason gets to call my mom on Skype, so we will get to see him! cant wait! Here are some pictures from this week

Tavan holding Dimitri for the 1st time

This video was shot just mere minutes after walking in the door. Tavan was so excited that Dimitri was home and he couldn't/wouldn't wait to hold him! I love my two little boys so much and am so grateful that i get to be their mommy!

Dimitri Daniel Morgan

He is here!!! I went in Sunday evening (7pm) to the hospital. I didn't think that I would be staying but went in anyway just to be sure and to get checked and it wasnt until about 1 a.m. that we knew ,for sure, we were not leaving anytime soon. After laboring all night i got my epidural around 7 and at 9:05 Dimitri made his entry. Both Grandma's were present for the birth ( I wasnt planning on them being in the room, but when it came time I changed my mind) I was so nervous that my mother was not going to make it, but just in time she walked into the room and I was so relieved she made it. I only had to push for about 10-20 min again which is good because after being up all night, im not sure i could have done much longer!! Dimitri weighed 7 lbs and 3 oz and was 20 in. long. While I was holding him later i made a comment about him being bigger than his brother, but to not tell Tavan that and Dimitri smiled the biggest smile...it had my mom and I laughing so hard (awesome timing gas bubble..)
Because of the R.S.V. season, anyone under the age of 13 was not allowed back into the rooms. This meant that Tavan was not allowed to come back and see his brother. This was the hardest part of the whole hospital stay for me. Ricky did show Tavan his baby brother through the window. I was not able to witness the "showing" but both grandmas were there. Paula got a video of it, and my mom got some photos
While we were in the hospital we had visitors and such. it was about as exciting as staying in the hospital can get =0 although I did get to talk to Jason! He was flying to Bulgaria and while they are in the airport he gets to make phone calls. so I got to talk to him and tell him he was an uncle again!=D We ended up having to stay an extra day because Dimitri had an episode of low blood sugar and they wanted to keep him longer because he was a little early, but long story short(and because i dont want to ramble on and on)....Dimitri is fine and doing quiet well. The day finally came were we got to leave =) Tavan was so excited when i called and told him that mommy was coming home with Baby brother.
Tavan holding him for the first time. I also have a video that i will try to post another day
the first complete Morgan family photo!
Dimitri is a good baby. I know he is only (almost) 2 weeks old, but he is awesome. He sleeps alot right now and eats about every 3-4 hours which is manageable compared to Tavans every 2hrs =) Tavan is doing well with his brother. His tantrums are bigger but thats expected while he adjusts. He is very helpful with Dimitri and wants to hold him all the time. He also is constantly telling us that "dimitri is his best friend" or "baby brother is so tiny and cute". Ricky loves his two boys and has been such an awesome support for me. I love him more and more every day =) As for me, I am doing well. I feel almost completely back to normal =) and im already back in my pre pregnancy clothes which makes me happy!!! I am so glad that Dimitri is here and he just fits perfectly into our little family! I love all my boys!!

Easter 2012

yes, I am way behind in blogging but better late than never! This years easter celebration started a few days before Easter for us. The local Rec Center does an Easter egg hunt in the pool for kids in the community. We weren't going to take Tavan until one of his friends invited us to go with them. Reagan and Tavan had fun even though it was CRAZY! there were so many kids there in the kiddie pool area. Tavan found one egg and then collected two others from friends. after the hunt they let the kids play in the pool for a little while and it wasn't until then that we realized that the Morgan cousins were all there as well, so i think its pretty good that we went.
waiting patiently for it to start
daddy and Tavan splashing afterwards
after the egg hunt we went home and colored easter eggs. Tavan is still a little young for the concept but Ricky andI didnt want to miss the opportunity to let him try. He did better than we expected and enjoyed making the eggs turn colors and putting on his "cars" stickers
all the eggs he colored
On Easter Sunday we decided to go to the grandmas ward for church (both parents are in the same ward) we met up with my mom at the park here in town and Tavan hunted for some eggs (as well as JoD) Tavan loved looking for all the eggs and Ricky enjoyed hiding some for Jo D to try to find
apparently the easter bunny is really tall and can hide Jo Ds eggs in super sneaky places =) Rick even put some way up in the trees and Jo D had to climb up them to find them all....it was mildly amusing
